Slovakia & Hungary
August 21, 2018

Those who know us already know that we are more interested in small quiet places than big cities, especially when traveling with a 7.5-meter motorhome… In this case, to our surprise, we can say that our favorite place in Slovakia was Bratislava. We parked on the banks of the Danube River in a place with beautiful views of the castle and the center of the city where a music and beer festival was also held. A good way to start, do not you think?
We found the historic center of Bratislava very beautiful. Sincerely, I understand that for the neighbors it is not the most comfortable, but the cities with pedestrian centers have so much more charm! It is super nice to visit the city quietly, without the noise or stress of traffic, the streets are filled with people walking, cozy terraces of bars and cafes, musicians…
Our last stop in Slovakia was a place called Sturovo, right on the border with Hungary. We found a perfect place to park and cross over the Danube river to visit our first village in Hungary, Esztergom, a very positive first impression of the country. Esztergom was the capital of Hungary from the 10th to the 13th centuries and also the seat of Roman Catholicism in Hungary for more than 1000 years. Only its cathedral is worth the visit, it is imposing and offers beautiful views from the outside of the dome.
Budapest was our next remarkable visit, once again, a big city that we liked. It has a beautiful historical center, lots of life and pleasant atmosphere along the Danube full of bars and restaurant boats.
Another highlight of Hungary is Lake Balaton, with a special mention to Tihany, which we thought was a charming place from where you can enjoy beautiful views over the lake from the top of the village. Finally, we want to make a gastronomic note and mention the Hungarian lรกngos, a kind of fried dough with different toppings, we tried the cheese and dill one and, although it is a calorific bomb, it tasted great!
And with this we get more or less up to date, in the next post we will talk about Croatia and something more surely! ๐
Otra vez es un placer poder disfrutar con vosotros de todas estas ciudades tan bonitas y con un poco de sus culturas.
Gracias.
